What is a Naturopathic Physician?

Naturopathic physicians (N.D.s) are general practitioners trained as specialists in natural medicine.

They are the only physicians with comprehensive medical training that includes a wide variety of natural therapeutics, such as herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, homeopathy, natural hormones, intravenous supplementation, as well as many prescription drugs.

Naturopathic physicians specialize in less invasive treatments which minimize the risks of harmful side-effects. Treatments are tailored to the needs of the individual patient based on a cogent philosophy that acknowledges the patient as participant.

Naturopathic physicians specialize in integrative medicine; combining the best of allopathic and naturopathic medicines in a supportive patient-centered relationship.

ND's refer to and accept referrals from all other branches of medicine supporting concurrent  health care systems to give patients the most suitable, individualized treatment options available.

Their training includes the same sciences as  MDs, but in addition to the standard medical curriculum, naturopathic physicians complete four years of training in clinical nutrition and vitamin therapy, homeopathy, botanical medicine, physical medicine and psychology.
